We are looking for a developmental service worker (DSW) who can work under the regulation of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) and

can counsel, educate, reinvent, comprehensive methods and other support practices to assist individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Supporting client(s) with developmental disabilities with their physical, social, and emotional needs
• Service Worker(s) with knowledge of behavioural support strategies
• interested in developing advanced skills, to support individuals with challenging behaviours.
• Assisting client(s) in personal hygiene, life skills and encourage development of acceptable social behavior
• Providing direct basic care to client(s)
• Supporting client(s) with activities of daily living
• Assisting with patient socialization and recreational activities
• Promote waypoint Values of caring, respect, accountability, and innovation
• Report to RN or RPN all observations of physical and behavioral issues
• Ensuring accurate and up to date documentation
• Providing a safe, therapeutic environment for client(s)
• Participating in planned and emergency restraints as needed within facility guidelines
• Ensure to promote a team approach
• Participate in ongoing training to bring about best practises
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Candidates with a DSW diploma, or equivalent, are preferred
• 2-years College Diploma in a Developmental Services Program
• I year completion in an accreditable Nursing Program maybe applicable
• Current criminal reference check,
• CPR and First aid certificate
• Valid G drivers’ licence
• Equivalent education in the adult human services field, may be applicable
• Students in DSW program are encouraged to apply.
• knowledge or experience with healthcare environment
• Experience with clients’ activities of daily living (ADL)
• Understanding of mental health and its complexities is a plus
• Ability to work independently and multitask
• Work hours flexible to accommodate family needs
• CPR and First Aid certification
• Valid COVID vaccination Certificate
